Floriade

Went to Floriade today. The event of the year here besides Starfire in Feb. The second time when Canberreans finally come out of their holes and you see some signs of life here! If not, the streets will be empty and you wonder if there is ever anyone living here.

Here's a little background to what's Floriade about. It is a spring festival to commemorate Australia's bicentenary and Canberra's 75th birthday. Started in 1988. Ha, that time I primary 2?
The word Floriade comes from the Latin word 'floriat', meaning 'to design with flowers'. And actually hor the name was inspired by other flower festivals held in the Netherlands, called Keukenhof and Floriade. So you know lah…
Every year it has a different theme and this year’s theme is, ‘ The World on Show.’ It features the display of flowers designed by various countries. Besides seeing flowers, there are also concerts, sales of handicrafts and cafes.
Some of the flowers include tulips, irises, daffodils, hyacinths, violas, chrysanthemums, ranunculas, English Daisies and special showcase gardens of new varieties. But I see mostly tulips leh…
Anyway when we entered the park, “ Wah, wah very nice. Very nice.’ And quickly took out digi cam and started snapping pictures. Heehee. Not just us ok. Everyone also did that.

To me is like wah… it’s not everyday that you see tulips rooted in the ground. Most of the time you see it in the florist in the bucket or in a bouquet. Right? Right? Moreover never see so many tulips in my life. Woo… what a sight…

FeetBus! It's like Flintestones! The people have to carry the bus and travel with their feet! Ha! Notice the little boy with a blue jersey top? He was in almost every pic I took of the Feetbus!

Spot me if you can... mini me...

Ha, a bigger ME! If you miss me! =)
Friends and me!

At the end of the day, I nearly went blind… the sun was too nice to us so that we could take pictures on that day. It was too glaring!!! My eyes were losing it and said… WE WANT SUNGLASSES, WE WANT SUNGLASSES, WE WANT SUNGLASSES… Ok, ok after I get back to Spore? ( I lost my sunglasses last winter holidays… haiz…)
In the meantime, here's a flower for you! Will be back soon! 20 Nov!!! Whoah!!!
